John Vernice Cain, a longtime resident of Detroit, MI transitioned to Glory on January 31, 2024, at the age of 81. Born March 20, 1942, John was the third born child to Julia Mae and Harold Cain John in Aliquippa, PA.
John graduated from Aliquippa Senior High School (1960), later relocating to Detroit, MI. He is dedicated retiree of the Chrysler Motor Company serving 31 years of service. John was a proud United States Army Veteran. In 1964, John was drafted into the United States Army. He devoted two years of service which includes a one-year tour in Vietnam. After serving is country, he returned to Detroit to set down roots and to build a family.
John (Doc) was very serious-minded from an early age and knew how to hold on to a dollar. As a youth he worked at a local golf course as a caddy and honed his barber skills by cutting hair at the top of the stairs on Griffith Heights.
In 1967, Doc met and married Norma Jackson and from this union he had one daughter Alicia Kimberlyn, one son Andre Kevin, and one adoptive daughter Angela K. He would later go on to marry Francis (Frankie) Cain.
Doc’s Christian life began at an early age of as a member of Triedstone Missionary Baptist Church in Aliquippa, PA.
John’s loving parents, Julia Mae and Harold Cain, grandparents John and Ethel Hart, Aunt Deanie Jeter, Uncle Elliott Jeter, son Andre Kevin Canin, brothers Lee Charles ad Benjamin James Cain, sisters Irene Denis McClellan and Virginia Clarit preceded him in going home to rest.
He leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life, two daughters Alicia K. Tucker, Cincinnati, OH and Angela K. Morris Phoenix, AZ, two sisters Joann D. Jeter (William) Catonsville, MD and Belinda Cain, Baltimore, MD two brothers Harold N. Cain, Monaca, PA and Calvin C. Cain, Baltimore, MD, one sister-in-law Joycelyn Cain, Huntsville, CA, a sister-like cousin Yvette El Amin, Detroit, MI, five grandchildren Timothy Williams, Monte Morris, Deonta Reese, Deandre Cain and Tiera Tucker, three great grandchildren, Timara Wallace, Drake Cain and Kody Cain and a host of other relatives and friends.
John was laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery, Aliquippa, PA.
Final service was held on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at the Salvation Army Aliquippa Worship and Service Center, Pastor Lamont Cain Officiating. Service entrusted to Washington Funeral Home & Cremations, 1411 6th Avenue, Beaver Falls. PA
