Joann Cox, 80. of Beaver Falls, Pa., went home to be with the Lord on Saturday February 4, 2023 at the Heritage Valley Hospital in Beaver, Pa. Born April 15, 1942 in Beaver Falls, Pa., she is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Lonzie Cox Jr.; her parents, Tony and Alberta Pugh; six brothers, Eugene, Harold, Alexander, Anthony, Gary and Ashbury; three sisters, Hazel Jackson, Laverne Miles, and Margaret Adams.

She was a devoted life-long member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Beaver Falls, where she served as a choir director and on the kitchen committee. She was a member of the Senior Choir, Gospel Descendants and Missionary Society.

She was a former employee of the Big Beaver Falls Area School District as an administrative assistant. She also worked at Westinghouse and Heritage Valley Hospital in the communications department.

She was a proud 1960 graduate of Beaver Falls Senior High School, where she participated in several activities including chorale’ and cheerleading. Her passion was shopping, but she did enjoy going out to eat, movies, plays and traveling. She just loved to have a good time.

Joann is survived by a daughter, Tyanne (Doug) Brown, Clinton, Md.; Clayton Timothy Cox, Beaver Falls and Martin Anthony Cox, Pittsburgh. Nine grandchildren, Timothy James “TJ” Montgomery, Dominique Brown, Tanisha Brown , Shayla Roach, Destiny Cox, Emmanuel Nwokorie, Daisha Cox, Johnathan Morlan, Christina Morlan, along with several great-grandchildren. Clayton and Tyanne are to be commended for their care-taking commitment to their mother. Joann is also survived by several in-laws including Pastor Raphael Cox, Canton, Ohio; Patricia Ann Henderson, Canton, Ohio; Ronnie (Terri) Cox, Center Twp., Timothy (Mary Patricia) Cox, Westminster, Md.; Clara Denise Cox, New Brighton; Howard Adams, Pittsburgh and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 17, 2023 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Tabernacle Baptist Church, 630 3rd Ave., Beaver Falls, Pa. The funeral service will be held Saturday, Feb. 18, at 11 a.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church with her pastor, the Rev. Dwight Banks officiating. Services are entrusted to the WASHINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 1114 6th Avenue, Beaver Falls, PA 15010.
