Denise N. Simon, loving mother, and grandmother passed unexpectantly away on November 10, 2022, in Columbus, Ohio. Denise was born on the military installation Camp Hanford, Washington, on September 27, 1955.
Denise’s father was in the military, so her early childhood was spent traveling the US and US territories. The family settled in El Paso, Texas, where she attended and graduated from Burges High School in 1974. She attended the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and received a bachelor’s degree in Business Finance. She worked alongside her father as an insurance broker at Simon and Associates. She went on later in life to finish her Ph.D. in Early Child Hood Education. She was also an active member of the First Baptist Church of Grove City. Denise loved the Lord and studied the bible and became a Sunday school teacher, and helped with prayer groups for many years. Denise had many interests – baking, astrology, and higher education. She would empower anyone with knowledge who would listen. Those who knew her would fondly address her as “Professor.” Whether you were a family member or acquaintance, Denise would move mountains to help you as best as possible, no matter the need. Her love for another was heartfelt, and you could feel it when you stepped into her ora. Her smile was contagious, and her laugh magnetic.
Denise will be loved and celebrated for being a dedicated mother, grandmother, and loving friend.
Denise joins her father, Matthew H. Simon, and her sister, Gayle M. Simon, in heaven.
She is survived by her two daughters, Cari M. Washington and Cimone M. Washington; her granddaughters Leila Rae M.S. Kubli and Savannah Lynn S. Kubli; her mother Doris M. Simon;
her brother Matthew D. Simon; her sister Doris (Beth) E. Simon.
Denise’s life will be celebrated with family and friends; her light has not been dimmed by death, but shines even brighter in a better place.
