Our beloved Dorothy Young, 86, of Beaver Falls, Pa., went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Friday, December 2, 2016.
Dorothy was born January 10, 1930, in Wilson, N.C., to the late Ike Armstrong and Missouri Carter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Young Sr.; sons, Lewis Jr., Rodney and George, and brother, Cleveland Morgan.
Dorothy came to Beaver Falls at the age 15 and graduated from Beaver Falls High School in 1949. Shortly thereafter, she met and married Lewis Young in 1950. She joined the Second Baptist Church of Beaver Falls, Pa. During her time at Second Baptist, she served as President Senior Missionary, Y-Mac; Kitchen Committee; and Pastor’s Aid.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Kristi Lowe and Robert Lowe; sisters, Marie Brown, Weirton, W.Va.; Carlilie Seabrook, Rahway, N.J.; Dr. Pauline Anderson, Bradenton, Fla., and Dr. Petrovia Rich, Richmond, Va.; brother; Paul Morgan, Wilson, N.C.; granddaughters, Brianne Lowe, Latesha Horvath and Lindsey Young; grandson, George Young Jr.; great-granddaughters, Nialani Gaisoa and Kamiyah Gordon; devoted cousins, Henry Armstrong Jr., Newark, N.J.; Dolores Pogue, Radcliffe, Ky.; Tonya Mention, Ambridge, Pa.; Nikia Montgomery, Ambridge, Pa., and Troy Mention, Ambridge, Pa.; along with devoted nieces and nephews, and numerous family and friends.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2016, from 4 to 8 p.m. at WASHINGTON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS, Beaver Falls. Homegoing Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, December 8, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the Second Baptist Church, Beaver Falls, with the Rev. Bernard E. Tench officiating.
