Wanda Brown

Wanda Brown, 67, of Beaver Falls went home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 26, 2021. Born on January 5, 1954, she was the daughter of William and Margaret Lipford.

Wanda went to Penn State Beaver where she received her Associate Degree in Business; and worked as a secretary for many years. She also, worked in the restaurant business as a manager. Wanda was a member of Holy Spirit of New Brighton, Pa. She truly enjoyed her family, but what she enjoyed most was her Grand and Great-Grandchildren. She was a wonderful person and would do anything for the ones she loved, everyone that knew her loved her, she will be truly missed.

In addition to her parents and husband Lewis H Brown she is preceded in death by Brothers Eddy & Patrick Lipford. Sister Lugene Lipford.

Wanda will be sadly missed by her children, Demetrius, Sylvia, Lee, Donna Ford and Kandy Brown. Grandchildren Daijah, Kayla, MiLiegh, Ryan, Sky, Rick, Rickelle, Molly, Tisha, Tyreck, Josh, Kamya, Daniyah,, Robert, Ramir, Erieus, Erieonna, Shemauri and Yazmire. Great-Grandchildren. 5 Sisters and 6 Brothers. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 from 5PM to 7PM and September 1, 2021 at 12PM followed by a 1 PM Homegoing service at Washington Funeral Home & Cremation, 1411 6th Avenue, Beaver Falls, PA.

Due to the public health concerns caused by COVID-19, all visitors are required to wear a mask and to practice safe distancing.

William J. La’Vette

William Joseph LaVette Sr.77, born in West Virginia passed away August 23, 2021 surrounded by loved ones. He was the son of James LaVette and Daisy Bailey-LaVette and was the loving husband to Jackie LaVette for 53 years.

William J. LaVette was drafted in the United States Army in 1965 where he served his Country and was honorably discharged. He was a well-known and respected bus driver for Beaver County Transit Authority where he retired after serving for 30 years and was recognized for his high level professionalism and quality service. William J. LaVette was a long-time member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and dedicated matriarch in his family. William will truly be missed by his family and all who knew him.

William. J. LaVette was processed in death by his parents James and Daisy LaVette, brothers James and Doug LaVette and one sister Donna Garrett.

William J. LaVette leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife Jackie LaVette; children Tammy Matthews, Jacqueline Alvarez, William j. LaVette jr. (Tiffany), and Nicole LaVette. Grand-children Kenneth Johnson, Bruce Carper, LaTisha Battles, Desiree’ LaVette, Deadra LaVette, Brittany LaVette, Lacey LaVette, D’Shae LaVette and Isaiah LaVette. Two brothers Wendall and Edward LaVette, sister-in-law Marsha LaVette and a special cousin Harold Jefferson (Ale). A Host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Service to be held on Friday, August 27, 2021from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm followed by a Homegoing Celebration on Saturday August 28 at 1:00pm. Washington Funeral Home & Cremations 1411 6th Avenue, Beaver Falls, PA. Pastor Dwight Banks officiating

Roger L. Slappy

Roger Lee Slappy, age 74 of East Liverpool, Ohio, formerly of Midland, PA, passed away surrounded by his family on August 21, 2021. Born to the late Lee Roy and Thelma Slappy on April 15, 1947. The family would like to thank Calcutta Healthcare and Akeso Hospice of Calcutta, Ohio, for the loving care and support they gave Roger and his family.

Roger worked at Crucible Steel Mill of Midland, for 16 years and he later retired from World Class Process, in Conway, PA, after 15 years. He loved race cars and sports cars of which he had quite a few. His hobby was racing, fixing, and selling cars. He loved hanging out with his friends in the lot and his garage.

He leaves to cherish his mourning his son Reese and grandson Deonte. Brothers, John Thomas (JT) Slappy; and James (Phyllis) Slappy of Midland, PA; and Donald Slappy of Rochester, PA; Sisters, Eva (Carl) Leak, Christine Slappy, and Carolyn Harris of Midland, PA; Rev. Mary Burton of Baden, PA, Paula (Nathaniel) Waldron, Monaca, PA. And a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Roger was preceded in death by his grandson, Armani Slappy and his siblings, Thelma Perkins; Lee Roy Slappy; Paul Slappy; John and Joe Slappy, Shirley Dorsett-Pogue, and Larry Slappy; and Becky Bell.

A Homegoing Service will be held in his honor on Friday, August 27, 2021, at The Father’s House, 310 Clay Street, Rochester, PA. Viewing will be from 9 am – 12 am with service at 12. Services entrusted to Washington Funeral Home, Regina Washington, Funeral Director

Cedric Martin (Rick) Weckerly

Cedric Martin (Rick) Weckerly, 64 of Beaver Falls, Pa passed away on August 18, 2021 at Good Samaritan Hospice Heritage Valley Beaver, Pa. Cedric was born on June 3, 1957 to the late Earl M. and Alice E. (Crawford) Weckerly. Sr.

Rick was an avid Steelers Fan. He loved to play dice and Board games with his friend Fred Radics. He also, enjoyed spending time shooting the breeze with special neighborhood friend’s Sonny Childs, Donnie Monroe and Jack Altsman. Rick’s bigger than life personality will be missed by all who knew and LOVED him. Beloved late girlfriend Betteanne Goosby.

Rick is survived by his daughters, Amy (Timothy) Mackynen, Ricki Musto (Jeff Ketterer) and Jill Radics (Michael Long) all of Beaver Falls, Pa. Step children Ashley Herko and Aaron Brophy. A Host of Grandchildren, 3 Great-Grandchildren. Sister Sandra (Robert) McCann, Beaver Falls, Pa. Brothers, Donald R. (Sandra J.) Weckerly, Beaver Falls, Pa and William H. Weckerly, Ohio. A host of Nieces, Nephews and other relatives and friends.

Calvin Brown

Calvin Brown, 64 on Monday, August 2, 2021, God called his faithful warrior home.

Calvin was born July 11, 1957, in Forest Home, Alabama to the late Ozell Waters and Annette Brown Durant.

He graduated from Beaver Falls High School, where he played football, basketball and ran track. He also attended William Boyd Business School, and Computer Tech. Calvin was a hard worker, he worked at J & L Steel of Aliquippa, PA, The Pit Stop, in Moon Township, The Yellow Cab Company, Uber Driver and the Sheraton Hotel.
He enjoyed meeting new people and spending time with family and friends. He was very outgoing always greeting others with a big smile, helping hand, and open heart. He never complained no matter what was going on in his life. He always had a positive outlook that spread to everyone he met. He enjoyed watching all sports, and was just an avid sports fan and true athlete at heart.

The Hillman Cancer Center of Beaver and all the friends from the Sheraton Hotel.

He was proceeded in death by his father Ozell Waters, and stepfather Jimmie Lee Durant, a brother, Willie Ed Durant, and uncle, Lee Brown.

He leaves to cherish his memory; Loving mother: Annette Brown Durant, sisters: Lora Hullum (Kenneth) of Belleville, Michigan, Janetta Durant Iqbal (Navid) Beaver Falls, PA, and Chasity Waters, of Georgiana, Alabama.
Brothers: Ozell (D’ Valincia) Waters Jr of Atlanta, Georgia. Dana (Bridget) Waters of Sampson, Alabama, and, Jimmie Lee Durant Jr (Alice). A host of nieces and nephews, best friends Eddie Taylor (Rochelle), Ali Creach, Larry Nelson, Eddie Williams, and all of the 26th Street crew.

Friends will be received on Saturday, August 7th, 2021 viewing at 12p.m. until the 1p.m. Homegoing service at Washington Funeral Home & Cremations, 1411 6th Avenue, Beaver Falls, PA.
