Mark Sterrett McAnlis

Mark Sterrett McAnlis New Castle Mark Sterrett McAnlis, 47, of New Castle, Pa., passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, September 19, 2019. He was born on Wednesday, August 16, 1972, in Rochester, Pa.

Mark was truly a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was the first child born to mother and stepfather, Ann Sawyer McAnlis and Jacob Johnson, and his father, the late Richard Sterrett McAnlis.

Mark’s survivors include his loving wife of 25 years, Tammy Lynn McAnlis; his children, Zachery Mark McAnlis, and Kayla Ann McKnight; son-in-law, Zachery Taylor McKnight; and his first granddaughter, Zoey Marie McKnight, all of New Castle; and siblings, Luke McAnlis of Butler, Pa., Martha McAnlis of Chicago, Ill., and Matthew McAnlis of East Palestine, Ohio.

Mark was an avid farmer and a 20 year steel mill worker at Ellwood Quality Steel. He was a Mohawk football player, and was involved with the FFA and 4H. He was also a member of the Mahoningtown Crime Watch. He had a strong work ethic that he instilled in his family. Mark’s smile was so contagious. He loved growing his garlic. He had a strong passion for his dune buggy, loved telling stories on the front porch and spending time with his beloved family. He was the kind of guy who would help anyone out even if it meant giving his own shirt off his back. “Mark left us too soon but Heaven gained the most Amazing Angel “Mark”; he will always be in our hearts and souls forever. Mark, tell Jesus all of your amazing stories and make him say “HOLY MACKEREL!!!!”

A Memorial Celebration will be held for family and friends on Sunday, September 29, 2019, at Moraine State Park 4 p.m., Shelter#7, McDanel’s Boat Launch North Shore.

Carol Ann McDowell

Carol Ann McDowell New Brighton Carol Ann McDowell, 74, of New Brighton, Pa., passed away on September 12, 2019, in the Heritage Valley Beaver Hospital after a long illness. Born August 17, 1945, in Rochester, Pa., to the late Jesse L. and Elaine (Slaughter) McDowell.

She was preceded in death by both her parents and brother, David (Butch) McDowell.

She is survived by sons, Jeffery McDowell of Lakewood, Wash. and Chad McDowell of New Brighton, Pa.; daughter, Amber McDowell of Albany, Ga.; grandchildren, A’Monakei, Alexander and Storm Lynch; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Diane Evans and Linda Justice; brother, Richard McDowell; and a host of other relatives and friends.

At Carol’s request, her service will be held privately and there will be no viewing or visitation. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Jacqueline Thornton

Jacqueline “Mama Jack” Thornton, 58, of Beaver Falls, Pa., passed away unexpectedly at her home on September 2, 2019. She was born to the late Eugene Brothers and Esther Fuqua on August 18, 1961, in New Castle, Pa.

“Mama Jack” leaves a legacy in her community because of her devotion and consistency as a Mother, Grandmother, Auntie, Cousin and Friend. Jacqueline’s generosity impacted many by the way she opened her home to anyone for food, laughter and conversation. 376 and 116 became a safe haven to all; she was loved by many near and far. Jacqueline loved spending time with family and friends, dancing, listening to music and cheering on her sports teams. Jacqueline was a member of New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ in New Castle Pa., and loved worshipping the Lord. Jacqueline loved being employed as a housekeeper and caregiver and was disappointed to retire due to a decline in her health. After her retirement nothing stopped Jacqueline from continuing a life of commitment and devoted love.

Jacqueline is preceded in death by Husband, Carl Thornton; Parents, Eugene Brothers and Esther Fuqua.

She is survived by children: Justin Clark, Sanna Clark, Carl Thornton, Jake Thornton, Carla Thornton, Devonte McGee; Brother, Eugene (Tory) Fuqua of Houston TX, Grandchildren: Anautika Clark, Jake Thornton Jr., Damian Lee, Iziaha Jones, Charlie Jones, Carlayah Griffin, Jaydyn Clark, Ryann McBride, Sa’Rai Kimbrough and Kennedi Clark; and a host of beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.

Interment will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in New Castle PA.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 7th, 2019 from 10 am to 12 pm; with the Homegoing Service immediately afterwards at New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ, 1701 Moravia Street, New Castle PA. 16101 Service entrusted to Washington Funeral Home Cremations, 1411 6th Avenue, Beaver Falls, PA Regina Washington Supervisor.

Russel B. Allen

Russel B. Allen, 66 of Chicago, Illinois and most recently a resident of Beaver Falls for over 20 years went to be with the Lord on August 14, 2019.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday August 22, 2019. Friends and Family will be received at 5pm, with service starting at 6pm at The Washington Funeral Home & Cremations, 1411 6th Avenue, Beaver Falls, PA.

Lillie Washington

Lillie Washington Beaver Falls Lillie Washington 98, of Beaver Falls, Pa., passed away with family by her side in her home on Tuesday, July 30, 2019. She was born February 27, 1921, in Thomasville, Ga., to the late Elmore and Alena Mitchell.

Lillie had a heart of gold and will be deeply missed by all of her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Mansfield Samuel Washington Sr.; sons, Lester Howard Washington and Lawrence Keith Washington; and daughter, Miranda Fay Russ.

She is survived by sons, John Washington, Philadelphia, Pa., and Mansfield Washington Jr., Elwood City, Pa.; daughters, Anna Anderson, Wilmington, Del.; Arlene (John) Young, Queen Creek, Ariz.; Lorraine (Carlos) Bonilla, Youngstown, Ohio; and Gineen Cockfield, Beaver Falls, Pa.; 24 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Angelena Curry, Thomasville, Ga.; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins other relatives, and friends.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2019, 11 a.m. and a 1 p.m. service at WASHINGTON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS, 1411 6th Avenue, Beaver Falls, PA 15010. Regina Washington, Supervisor.
